



The National Service Scheme (NSS) and Red Ribbon Club (RRC) of Lakshmi Bangaru Arts and Science College, Melmaruvathur, jointly organised an Awareness Programme on “World AIDS Day – 2025” on 16th December 2025 at 11.15 a.m. in the College Auditorium.
The programme was led by the respected Principal, Dr. R. S. Venkatesan, who delivered the Presidential Address. In his address, he emphasized the importance of HIV/AIDS awareness among youth and highlighted the vital role of educational institutions and NSS volunteers in promoting a healthy, informed, and stigma-free society.
The Chief Guest, Mrs. S. James Sangeetha, M.S.W., ICTC Counselor, Government Hospital, Madurantakam, delivered an informative and impactful lecture on HIV/AIDS awareness. She explained the causes, modes of transmission, preventive measures, the importance of early testing, available counseling facilities, and treatment options provided through government health services. Drawing from her professional experience, she effectively addressed common misconceptions and encouraged students to approach the issue with empathy, responsibility, and social commitment.
The programme was efficiently organised by the NSS Programme Officer, Dr. S. Sivaraj, who coordinated the event and ensured the active participation of 300 students and 15 faculty members. The NSS Unit expressed its sincere gratitude to the medical team, faculty members, NSS volunteers, and the college management for their support and cooperation in making the programme a grand success.
The programme concluded with a message reinforcing the NSS motto “Not Me, But You”, highlighting the importance of continued social service and community involvement. The NSS Unit also gratefully acknowledges and thanks the NSS Cell of the University of Madras for its constant encouragement and support in organising this meaningful programme.
