






National Service Scheme (NSS) of Lakshmi Bangaru Arts and Science College, Pallipettai, Melmaruvathur, organised an Awareness Programme on “Prevention of Dog Bites & Management of Stray Dogs” on 23rd December 2025 at 11.15 a.m. in the College Auditorium. The programme was presided over by the Principal, Dr. R. S. Venkatesan, who emphasized the importance of public awareness on dog bite prevention and humane management of stray dogs. The Chief Guest, Dr. K. S. Vijayakumar, M.V.Sc., Veterinary Assistant Surgeon, Government Veterinary Hospital, Ramapuram, Chengalpattu District, delivered an informative address covering the causes of dog bites, preventive measures, first aid procedures, the significance of anti-rabies vaccination, and scientific methods for managing stray dogs.More than 200 students and 15 staff members actively participated in the programme, which successfully enhanced awareness on public health safety, animal welfare, and social responsibility among the participants. The programme was organised and effectively coordinated by the NSS Programme Officer, Dr. S. Sivaraj, whose planning and guidance ensured the smooth conduct of the event. The NSS Unit gratefully acknowledges and thanks the NSS Cell of the University of Madras for its constant encouragement and support in organising this meaningful programme. The programme concluded with a message reinforcing the NSS motto “Not Me, But You”, highlighting the importance of continued social service and community involvement.
