






National Service Scheme (NSS) unit, in association with the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of Lakshmi Bangaru Arts and Science College, Pallipettai, organized National Energy Conservation Day in the college auditorium On 15th December 2025 at 11:00 a.m. The event began with a warm welcome and introduction to the theme, followed by the presidential address by Dr. R. S. Venkatesan, Principal, who emphasized the vital role of energy conservation in fostering sustainable living and encouraged students to be responsible citizens. This was followed by insightful speeches from the distinguished chief guests. Mr. M. Maheswaran, M.E., Executive Engineer (Operation and Maintenance), Acharapakkam, addressed the gathering and shared valuable perspectives on the importance of conserving energy and its contribution to sustainable development. This was followed by Mr. S. Rajarajan, Assistant Executive Engineer (Operation and Maintenance), Acharapakkam, who delivered an inspiring talk on the significance of energy conservation and the importance of safety measures in everyday life. Both guests engaged the students with practical examples and encouraged them to adopt energy-efficient habits. The session included interactive participation from the students, who asked questions and discussed ideas related to energy use and environmental protection. To further promote awareness, Dr. S. Sivaraj, NSS Programme Officer, and Dr. G. Rajasekar, IIC Coordinator, jointly organized a Drawing Competition on the themes “Switch off Today, Shine Tomorrow: இன்று அணை, நாளை ஒளிர்” and “Energy Conservation Begins with Me: ஆற்றல் சேமிப்பு என்னிடமிருந்து தொடங்குகிறது.” More than 200 students and 20 faculty members participated enthusiastically in the competition, and winners were recognized with certificates and prizes for their outstanding contributions. The programme concluded with a meaningful message highlighting the importance of financial discipline and social responsibility, in line with the NSS motto “Not Me, But You.” The NSS Unit gratefully acknowledges and thanks the NSS Cell of the University of Madras for their constant encouragement and support in organizing this impactful programme. The event ended successfully with a vote of thanks, leaving students inspired to take active steps toward energy conservation and safety in their communities.
