Exam Cell Rules & Regulations
Preamble
Lakshmi Bangaru Arts and Science College, Melmaruvathur, Chengalpattu, is affiliated to the University of Madras, Chennai, from the academic year 2019–2020. Established in 2019.
The Exam Cell has been constituted as per the University of Madras guidelines to decide upon academic policies and activities from time to time. The Examination Committee consists of:
- Principal
- Exam Cell Coordinator
- Department Coordinator
Role of Exam Cell
The Exam Cell coordinates with the University of Madras regarding all matters related to examinations. The In-charge, along with the Principal, handles all proceedings of the Exam Cell.
- Any communication from/to the University is processed in the cell.
- Circulars, guidelines, office orders, and notifications are processed, approved by the Principal, and dispatched to the University.
Responsibilities
- Serve examination communication received from the University to all concerned.
- Display details on exam fee collection, last dates, and payment modalities.
- Prepare exam schedules, invigilation duty charts, and seating arrangements.
- Mobilize staff and assign duties for smooth conduct of examinations.
- Distribute and collect answer books, prepare award lists, and send them to the University.
- Distribute marksheets to students after results are received.
- Analyze results and prepare reports for follow-up actions in consultation with the Principal.
Duties of Exam Cell
- Ensure proper conduct of exams: question paper setting, timetable preparation, assessment, and internal mark uploading.
- Recommend and implement examination reforms with Principal’s approval.
- Arrange strict vigilance to prevent unfair practices.
- Maintain records and monitor all exam-related activities.
Conduction of Examination
- Prepare master seating arrangements based on student strength and hall capacity.
- Maintain and distribute required materials (answer books, graph papers, etc.).
- Record and forward malpractice/misbehavior cases to the Principal.
- Provide materials to invigilators 30 minutes before the exam.
- Monitor examination halls to ensure invigilators perform their duties.
- Verify answer books with attendance records, sort them course-wise, and send bundles with attendance sheets to University representatives.

- 9:30 AM – First Bell
- 10:00 AM – Exam Start Bell
- 11:00 AM – First One Hour Complete Bell
- 12:00 PM – Second One Hour Complete Bell
- 1:00 PM – Warning Bell
- 1:15 PM – End of Exam Bell
University Exam Timing – Afternoon Session
- 1:30 PM – First Bell
- 2:00 PM – Exam Start Bell
- 3:00 PM – First One Hour Complete Bell
- 4:00 PM – Second One Hour Complete Bell
- 5:00 PM – Warning Bell
- 5:15 PM – End of Exam Bell
